ANNOUNCEMENT

Ohio law authorizes state agencies to adopt, amend, or rescind rules in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Revised Code (RC).

Three scope of practice rules were final filed with the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR) on March 17, 2020 and will become effective on April 1, 2020.

The three amended rules can be viewed using The Register of Ohio

Emergency medical responder scope of practice.

4765-16-04

Advanced emergency medical technician scope of practice.

4765-17-03

Paramedic scope of practice.

Amendments include adding CO-oximetry to the EMR scope of practice; adding Ketamine to the list of medications an AEMT may administer; and adding to the paramedic scope of practice non-emergent transport of a stable, ventilator-dependent pediatric patient under specific circumstances.
