Please see the attached invitation to a virtual exercise put on by the Eastern Great Lakes Pediatric Consortium for Disaster Response (EGLPCDR).  This pediatric virtual tabletop exercise is scheduled for September 10^th.  The exercise/workshop is scheduled for 10 am – 3:00 pm with the exercise beginning in the afternoon (12:00 pm). There will be components of SurgeNet that will be used in this exercise. The exercise scenario is focused around COVID. Here are the specific topic areas that will be addressed:

• COVID-19 Response
• MIS-C Update
• Back to School Concerns
• Winter Virus Season Planning
• Pediatric Surge Plan Review

The exercise is open to all hospital, as well as EMS and EMAs. The flyer contains information about CME and EMS credits and how to obtain those.

In addition, here are some of the highlights from a pediatric exercise last winter (December) that were provided to the exercise workgroup for consideration in planning based on experiences and lessons learned; please note, that exercise was a mass casualty incident and the upcoming exercise is an infectious disease so some of these highlights may not completely apply, but they were important takeaways.

• There is no formalized plan on communication for transports over the regional lines into another region. There needs to be additional discussions on who calls the hospitals in the next region to inform them to expect patients.
• A need for further discussion regarding OHTrac and patients being transferred outside the State was identified. If patients are entered into OHTrac then transferred to another hospital out of State, there should be some consistency on how this is updated either by the hospital transferring the patient or providing access to the hospital out of the State with access to OHTrac.
