Don’t forget:  QTD starts on December 10^th at 8 PM.  But the Con Ed quiz is open NOW.

• If you want to practice with Juvare EMTrack, an EMTrack incident titled, “3-WC Drill/Exercise” is also open now.  The EMTrack incident for Quarterly Triage Day will be created and available on the 10^th.
• For those who work in Emergency Departments, you may want to do the Hospital and Emergency Department Radio Training developed by GDAHA’s Communications Committee including Ryan Konkel and Ken Johnson.  That training was sent separately.

Our community has seen more than our share of MCIs over the last few years. Are we really ready (are you really ready) for the next one?

Quarterly Triage Day (QTD) will be December 10^th, 2023, at 8:00 PM through December 11^th, 2023, at 8:00 PM.  EMS and Emergency Department personnel must know MCI tools including Triage Ribbons, triage Treatment Tags, MCI Radio Talk Groups, and patient tracking systems.  

EMS:

• A completed GREEN Triage Treatment Tag and Triage Ribbon on every patient.  
• DO NOT use White “live” Tags for the drill. Those are only for real world incidents.

• Brief, MCI-style reports to hospital over MCI radio talk groups on every patient between 8:00 PM and Midnight on 12/10 or 8:00 AM and Noon on 12/11.
• If possible, scan each Treatment Tag into Juvare EMTrack.
• Use the attached EMS Job Aid.

Emergency Departments:

• Update the Juvare EMResources Triage Categories for your ED at least every 8 hours
• Triage Ribbon on every patient.  
• Each ED nurse should completely fill out at least one GREEN Triage Treatment Tag during their shift.
• DO NOT use “live” White Tags for the drill. Those are only for real world incidents.
• EVERY patient’s triage Treatment Tag must be scanned into Juvare EMTrack. This is used to track hospital QTD participation.
• Monitor MCI radios from 8:00 PM to Midnight on 12/10 and 8:00 AM to Noon on 12/11. 
• You must listen carefully for your ED to be called – there are no alert tones on the MCI Radio Talk Groups.
• Expect multiple Regional Hospital Notifications

• Use the attached ED Job Aid.

For the first time ever, we will offer the opportunity to earn Con Ed as part of the QTD. A quiz will be available from December 4th to December 11th at https://tinyurl.com/QTDDEC23. The form is also accessible using the QR Code.

The quiz is designed to encourage QTD participation, make you think about aspects of triage.  It asks you to complete short activities such as locating materials needed for the QTD (and for real-world incidents), and will help you be better prepared. There are two versions of the quiz (both at the same link), one for Emergency Department personnel, and one for EMS personnel. You will receive 0.5 hours of EMS CEs (usable by nurses) for successful completion of the CE Quiz. Certificates will be emailed in January.

Remember, we participate in Quarterly Triage Day in order to prepare ourselves so that we are ready for the real thing.  It is essential that we practice so we bring out our best during real world incidents!

• Quarter 4 2024- October 24 & 25 – Thursday/Friday
