The Ohio EMS Incident Reporting System (EMSIRS) will be down for maintenance on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. This affects those of you who submit your records via file upload and those whose records are automatically
submitted by your software vendor. Please do not attempt to submit any files via file upload to Ohio EMSIRS on that day. We have also asked software vendors to suspend automatic submissions for the entire day on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. This does NOT affect
those of you who enter your records directly into EMSIRS.
If software vendors attempt to send data via the web service on that day, you may receive messages indicating that that the web service is unavailable, offline or that the service endpoint can’t be reached.
Any data sent on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, will NOT be queued on the receiving end during this scheduled down time. The service that receives your data will be offline. End-users who manually upload files will not have access to the website on this day
either. This advance notice is being distributed so that you can prepare for this outage and adjust your submission schedule and methods as needed to prevent any data loss.
The maintenance scheduled will allow DI to implement a new version of the file verification solution so that uploaded records will be reviewed and processed individually within batched files. This means that only
the records with errors will be held back for correction instead of the system rejecting the entire file submission. As before, end-users will have access to submission reports that detail all warnings and errors for individual records that require correction
and re-submission to the Ohio system. Users are required to check submission reports in order to fix and resubmit any records that contained errors. New user guides for end-users are available now on the EMS website at
http://www.ems.ohio.gov/data-center.aspx Websites will remain the same, as will your usernames and passwords.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this upgrade or the temporary service outage. It would also be helpful if you share this message directly with anyone else who may be impacted by this one day service
outage.
Thank you for your patience as we make this important improvement to the Ohio EMS reporting system.
Sincerely,
Natalie Haslage
