Council Members,

 

In light of recent world events and reports that our electronic devices, websites, etc. could be targeted, GMVEMS Council would like to recommend the following:

 

  1. Print a copy of the 2021 Quick Sheets for each of your apparatus in case our app or other electronic access to Standing Orders were to become suddenly unavailable.

 

  1. Consider placing Paper Run Sheets on your apparatus in case your ePCR companies or electronic access to them become unavailable.

 

  1. Consider having paperwork backups for any other critical needs of your agency that currently are solely available via electronic means.

 

The Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) reminds us that destructive malware from any source can present a direct threat to an organization’s daily operations, impacting the availability of critical assets and data. While there is no specific, credible threat to the United States at this time, they recommend that all organizations assess and bolster their cybersecurity.  Actions that can be taken to include:    

CISA has numerous resources on their website, and has updated the Shields Up webpage to include new services and resources, recommendations for leaders and chief executive officers, and actions to protect critical assets.  You can review the CISA Shields Up Message at CISA.gov.
